Mediocracy can be your lamppost. Here’s my tongue-and-cheek perspective on the top 3 ways mediocre leaders “lead”.

Don’t invest in yourself

When you work in a constant state of overwhelm and do every task yourself, you know you’re on the right track to mediocrity. Don’t delegate tasks to your team members, don’t write out Standard Operating Procedures, and certainly don’t spend the little free time you have learning how to grow a profitable aesthetic practice.⁠ ⁠

Ignore your numbers.

I can tell you from previous clients that tracking your numbers is the fastest way to scale profitability, and we can’t have that, can we? I know that you are working so hard to achieve a mediocre lifestyle, and I wouldn’t want you to start thinking about once-in-a-lifetime family experiences, college tuition locked-in, or a fat retirement account. You’ve already achieved a modicum of success, and you should just ride that out.⁠ ⁠

Wait for perfection.

Most importantly, just keep waiting for perfection. When you try to achieve something great and fail, it is embarrassing. Stay inside your comfort zone and don’t think about the “great” things you might have achieved. ⁠ ⁠

You should spend your time exhausted and working towards undefined goals. I wouldn’t suggest writing your goals out or creating a timeline in which to achieve them. When you put pen to paper you are much more likely to succeed- and that goes against every rule for a mediocre business.⁠ ⁠
