Building A Culture Of Equity

As the Leader/ Owner of your aesthetic practice, you have the responsibility to create a culture of equality in your practice.

This responsibility is both an honorable and delicate task. It’s easy to offend others by something said or done, even when your intentions are the very best. With my experience in aesthetic practice management training, I’d like to share with you a few ways that you can ensure you are building a culture of respect and equality in which every team member can thrive.

~ Create an environment where team members can share their concerns or frustrations with the way they are being treated.

~ Create an expectation of lateral service, where everyone on the team helps one another respectfully and professionally.

~ Create a way for your team to recognize one another for helpful acts, outstanding service, etc. One fun way to implement this is with a team board in the break room where each team member shares a photo or compliment about someone else. Encourage specific compliments and ask team members to add to the board at least once a month.

~ Encourage your team not to focus on the frustrations they have. Pettiness usually melts away when everyone is choosing to focus on the good they see in others.

~ At every team meeting/ morning huddle have leadership offer specific praise to a team member. You could recognize an achievement, an act of kindness, or share a positive client review an individual received.

As a leader, you get to determine the culture of your practice. Make it great.
