Standard Operating Procedures

I read a quote the other day that really got my wheels turning.
“96% of problems in business are systems-driven, and only 6% are people driven.”-W. Edwards Deming
If you’re like me, 2020 has brought a lot of new changes to your business. Since pivoting my business this last year I’ve had to revamp a lot of my systems. And just recently I realized that I still need to revise the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) I have in place for my team. Isn’t it so easy to fall behind in updating your procedures sometimes?
Hopefully, you have trained your team to write out daily business operations, so that you can create duplicatable processes for new team members. If you haven’t dusted off your training protocols or Practice Management Operations Manual and updated them in a while, it’s time. Team members are craving foundation right now.
With the “new normal” that has resulted from COVID, getting a handle on your new procedures will benefit your organization immensely. After you’ve reopened for a while, take the time to review your SOP/ procedures/ manuals and tweak them as necessary. Be sure to include any changes you’ve made in prep/ end of the day cleaning, touchless interactions with clients, and PPE policies.
Utilize this opportunity to create solid systems that will help you develop a thriving and resilient business. Your team members will appreciate the stability that these systems will provide, and your clients will revel in smooth client experiences!
